The Jefferson Library is a small neighborhood branch located in the heart of Tremont
that is important to its community for reasons that go beyond its books. Here, children and adults alike have a safe place
to read, study, and gather. The completed expansion grew the building’s limited space by maximizing its flexibility and
creating more efficient staff facilities away from its main public areas.
Putting a new building addition on such a small property required the site design team to rethink the parking lot layout
in order to restore bioswale areas that were an important part of the library’s previous stormwater design. Recently reopened,
the historic building once again functions as a comfortable yet active space in the heart of Cleveland’s beloved Tremont neighborhood,
but with improved access and an ongoing commitment to green infrastructure and sustainability.
Boulevard Studios provided full landscape architecture services and served as a partner during early collaborations to
develop the overall site layout.
